The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (GoKR), the European Union and the United Nations have launched the Spotlight Initiative (SI), a multi-year program aimed at addressing all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG), and harmful practices. The Spotlight Initiative (SI) aims to support transformative change on the ground to end VAWG, in numerous countries globally, including the Kyrgyz Republic. The initiative comes with the highest level of commitment globally and will be governed by the UN Deputy Secretary General and the Vice President of the EU Commission.

The SI in the Kyrgyz Republic will apply a comprehensive set of approaches based on social innovation, Human Rights, multi-sectoral inclusive response and survivor-centred principles to the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of interventions across the SI’s six Outcome Areas. Particular emphasis will be placed on integrating the voices and experiences and solutions of women and girls who face multiple forms of discrimination, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) principle of ‘Leave No One Behind’. The SI in the Kyrgyz Republic has sought to reflect on current or common place models of ‘conducting business’ in order to propose innovative alternatives aligned with commitments to gender transformative and community-led approaches guided by adaptive leadership and a joint-One UN systems management approach. 

The Media Support Center Foundation in cooperation with UN Women is seeking a Committee expert for the Spotlight Initiative Project.

Qualification requirements

Education and certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in journalism, social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field is required. 
  • A certification in media or gender is an advantage.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in projects concerning media or gender studies;
  • Experience in organizing trainings in the sphere of media or gender;
  • Formation of relationships with mass media;
  • Experience in evaluation and research work;
  • Experience in coordination, implementation and report of non-profit projects;
  • Experience in working with different international organizations, teams and stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently, taking into account flexible schedules, as well as the ability to travel to the regions;
  • Experience working in the UN system is an asset.

 

Skills:

  • Good analytical, communication and training skills;
  • Performance of team;
  • Excellent skills with Word, Excel, Power Point and visual presentation;
  • Skills of working with information.

 

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Knowledge of Kyrgyz is an asset.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Evaluation Committee Expert works closely with other two experts, UN Women and Media Support Center Foundation and facilitates the success and completion of the project.

  • Contributes to the project’s successful realization and documents the whole project’s process in details;
  • Guides and provides support to improve teams’ work with other two Evaluation Committee Experts;
  • Works closely with gender and media experts;
  • Monitors the media organizations-participants’ results, analyzes strong and weak sides and prepares recommendations on optimization of their work based on monitoring each month;
  • Organizes one meeting with UN women and MSCF per month;
  • Works with organizations, teams and trainers;
  • Provides quality reports and timely submission to UN Women each month.
